Prunus serrulata

Kwanzan Cherry has double-pink, very attractive flowers and is usually purchased and planted for this reason.
The upright-spreading form, reaching 15 to 25 feet tall, is quite attractive in many locations including near a patio or as a specimen away from lawn grass competition.
The tree is glorious in flower and has been planted along with Yoshino Cherry in Washington, D.C. and Macon, Georgia for their annual Cherry Blossom Festivals.

Laburnum is a genus of two species of small trees in the subfamily Faboideae of the pea family Fabaceae, Laburnum anagyroides (Common Laburnum) and L. alpinum (Alpine Laburnum). They are native to the mountains of southern Europe from France to the Balkan Peninsula.

They have yellow pea-flowers in pendulous racemes 10-30 cm long in spring, which makes them very popular garden trees. In L. anagyroides the racemes are 10-20 cm long, with densely packed flowers; in L. alpinum the racemes are 20-30 cm long, but with the flowers sparsely along the raceme.

The leaves are trifoliate, somewhat like a clover, the leaflets typically 2-3 cm long in L. anagyroides and 4-5 cm long in L. alpinum.

Most garden specimens are of the hybrid between the two species, Laburnum x watereri (Voss's Laburnum), which combines the longer racemes of L. alpinum with the denser flowers of L. anagyroides; it also has the benefit of low seed production (Laburnum seed toxicity is a common cause of poisoning in young children, who mistake the seeds for peas).

All parts of the plant are poisonous and can be lethal if consumed in excess. Symptoms of Laburnum poisoning may include intense sleepiness, vomiting, convulsive movements, coma, slight frothing at the mouth and unequally dilated pupils. In some cases, diarrhoea is very severe and at times the convulsions are markedly tetanic.

Gladiator Allium. (Allium Gladiator)

This showy giant produces large, violet-blue globular flowers. Plant them in groups of three or more bulbs for the best effect. Great ornamental value and widely used for both landscape and cut flower purposes.

Interesting Notes
Alliums will grow in any average soil, doing even better in rich, well-drained soil. To achieve a successful visual effect, 10 to 15 bulbs should be planted close together. Alliums prefer to be dry in their dormancy. Position where other plants will help to hide their often untidy foliage.

Growing Tips
Planting Depth: 5" (12.5cm) Spacing: 8-10" (20-25cm) Bloom Duration: 3 weeks
Height : 60-68 Inches (152-173 cm)
Spread : 6-8 Inches (15-20 cm)
USDA Hardiness Zone : 4-8

The Lilac' Miss Kim', Syringa patula 'Miss Kim', is a very popular shrub. It is thought by many to be the number one Lilac in the Midwestern United States. The Miss Kim Lilac is compact and upright-rounded in form. It has an abundance of fragrant blossoms in spring that are dark lavender-pink in bud and fade to a very soft lavender-pink when fully opened. The blossoms are even more plentiful when it is planted in full sun.

Miss Kim has the best fall color of any Lilac, a reddish purple. Compact and upright-rounded in form, it slowly grows to five feet tall and wide. This shrub is resistant to powdery mildew, but suffers under prolonged drought conditions, when it may drop many of its leaves. The Miss Kim Lilac makes a wonderful shrub for foundation plantings
